Depending on your needs and where you are with your writing project, you can work with me in different ways. For writers looking for a writing coach to consult with through their creative process, I offer a Personalized Writer Residency. If you have a completed draft of a manuscript or screenplay, I am happy to read it and offer extensive feedback. I may consider reading and providing comments on shorter pieces as well. For anyone at the beginning of their writing journey just hoping to dip their toe into screenwriting specifically, please look into my Intro to Screenwriting class at UCLA Extension. Details for all three opportunities continue below.

DEVELOPMENTAL EDITING
ongoing

Have you completed a draft of your memoir, novel, or screenplay? Congratulations! I’d love to read it and offer you feedback. Share your manuscript with me and receive an extensive editorial letter that addresses the fundamental elements of story in your work. I’ll look at structure, the use the time, character, setting, voice, theme, and more, and share my thoughts with you. I will also return the manuscript to you with in-text feedback, which I generate contemporaneously as I read but review after I’ve completed reading so that my notes consider the work as a whole. Rates for developmental editing vary according to the length of the manuscript or screenplay, but generally range between $1800 and $2500.

INTRODUCTION TO SCREENWRITING
Fall Quarter 2024

6 meetings, Wednesdays, Oct. 16–Nov. 20, 2024
Time: 6:30pm–9:30pm PT
Where: Zoom
Cost: $485, through UCLA Extension
This is a course I facilitate and absolutely love, which is offered through UCLA Ext. The six-week course is perfect for anyone getting started on their path to becoming a screenwriter. Each class offers a broad-strokes introduction to a different writing format, which includes Feature Film, Television Specs, and Television Pilots, as well as a rotating list of specialized forms such as Video Game Writing, Writing for Animation, Sketch Comedy Writing, and/or Script Doctoring. The course also looks at the business end of writing. Lectures by guest speakers offer insight and instruction on each topic, followed by guided workshop sessions where students put those theories into action on their own material. The goal of the course is to give new writers a taste of different screenwriting types to help deepen their overall knowledge while sparking their creative energy. At the end of the quarter, students should feel more confident about their skills and be prepared for further study of writing.
